Kevin’s formative six years in a US MNC included positions as a Product Engineer, R&D Engineer and Account Manager, which leveraged his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics from the University of Strathclyde. His endeavors included ensuring production yields for custom integrated circuits and wireless modules met required goals; development of two-way radio voice and data communications products; and distribution of radio communication systems.

Subsequently, after a period of mentoring and successfully securing an LL.B. from the University of London, he developed his career as a Patent Attorney over a period of 7 years. A few years with a Singapore IP firm then followed where his work encompassed drafting and prosecuting patent applications locally as well as for a variety of other jurisdictions; counseling on IP, and specifically, due diligence and patent strategies; and various transactional services, including licensing negotiations. Later he took up his position with Agilent Technologies where he has been for the past 6 years."

As well as his role as Deputy Premier of Victoria from 1999 to 2007, John held numerous senior Ministerial portfolios including Planning, Health, Water, Environment and Climate Change.

Prior to entering Parliament in 1992 John was a barrister specialising in planning and administrative law and a Mayor of South Melbourne. His consulting work focuses on sustainability and public interest issues.

Currently, Mr. Tingey advises multinationals doing business in Asia on the legal aspects of business solutions to climate change mitigation and adaptation. He acts for project proponents and financiers of Kyoto Protocol Clean Development Mechanism projects in Asia and offset projects in Canada and, internationally, buyers and sellers of carbon credits. He also advises on issues relating to carbon neutrality, carbon finance and the structuring of funds and investment vehicles intended to support the trading of carbon credits and the development of projects that create carbon credits.

Mr. Uemura is admitted to practice in Japan (the Dai-ni Tokyo Bar Association) and the State of New York. He earned a Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B.) from Kyoto University in 1995 and a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) from New York University, School of Law, in 2002. Mr. Uemura is a native speaker of Japanese and is fluent in English.

Ramesh began his career as a corporate lawyer specializing on all aspects of general business law. In his earlier role in private practice, he helped structure several foreign investments into India and was actively involved in power projects (conventional and non-conventional energy) and dispute resolution matters.

In his immediate prior assignment as GC, Ramesh headed the legal function of one of the most challenging infrastructure projects in the country, i.e., the modernization of India’s most prestigious and busiest airport at Mumbai. In his additional role as the GVK Group counsel, Ramesh was also involved in power, port, road and other infrastructure projects. As part of this role, Ramesh handled many complex litigations and arbitrations in different fora.

Ramesh has spoken at various international conferences on diverse topics of Indian law.

Prior to co-founding FratiniVergano in 2007, he worked in the international trade departments of law firms in both Washington, DC and Brussels, Belgium and with the External Economic Relations (REX) Committee of the European Parliament. Mr. Vergano is admitted in Belgium and is a member of the Brussels’ bar (A list) and the IBA. Prior to joining Nishimura & Asahi in 2006, he served as an externship clerk for Hon. Samuel L. Buford at the United States Bankruptcy Court, Central District of California, Los Angeles in 2004. He subsequently became a member of AlixPartners LLP (New York), a turnaround management company based in the United States.

Since joining Nishimura & Asahi, he has represented numerous companies involved in international and domestic debt restructuring and turnaround, as well as acting as a court-appointed deputy trustee in bankruptcy cases.

Upon his return to Singapore, he served as a State Counsel and Deputy Public Prosecutor in the Singapore Attorney-General’s Chambers for 5 years before joining private practice. During his tenure, he was involved in the prosecutions of many high-profile cases. While in private practice in Singapore, Mr. Yang was a litigation partner in two of Singapore’s top law firms and had appeared as Counsel in many complex trials and appeals, both civil and criminal, in the High Court and the Court of Appeal of Singapore.

Prior to joining Sidley, Mr. Yang was the Chief Representative and the Head of Dispute Resolution of the Beijing Office of a premier U.S. law firm.
